Hello!
I'm an author of books for young readers and a former elementary school teacher. I'm also an active PTA parent, Co-founder of the Buffalo-Niagara Children's Writer's and Illustrators (BNCWI), and a member of the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI). I've lived in Buffalo, NY for most of my life and I love it here. (There's a lot more to this place than winter snow and it truly is The City of Good Neighbors.) I've had my share of travels around the world and short stints elsewhere, including a semester in London, a summer waitressing near the beach in North Carolina, and my first year of teaching in Atlanta. I love attending (and presenting at!) writing conferences and meeting new friends (See events page), So if you see me around, feel free to say hello. Dee Romito is an author of fiction and nonfiction books for young readers from picture books to middle grade. (She likes variety!) She is also Co-founder of the Buffalo-Niagara Children's Writer's and Illustrators. Her books have received starred reviews, a Crystal Kite Award, and a Junior Library Guild Gold Standard Selection. They have also been featured in Scholastic book fairs, book clubs, and Literati boxes. Dee lives in her hometown of Buffalo, New York where you’ll likely find her sipping from stainless steel straws as she researches strong women in history and ways to protect our planet.
