Author Visits
As a former elementary teacher, a mom of two, and a PTA parent, I love visiting schools to talk about reading and writing! My visits focus on getting the most out of reading and on making writing stronger. Sessions can be adapted for grades K-6 and groups of different sizes. I do virtual visits too. Conference organizers, I'd love to join your conference faculty!
A few words from educators and conference organizers . . .
"Dee Romito's author visit to Windom Elementary was a memorable and enriching experience for both students and teachers. Through engaging storytelling, lively discussions, and active student participation she fostered a sense of excitement around reading and writing. Dee encouraged students from PreK-5th grade to dream big and explore their own creative potential." - Christine T., elementary school librarian "Dee was incredible with our wide age range of students. She was able to keep the attention of even our 'squirreliest' kids and catered each presentation appropriately to each age group. Dee also graciously ate lunch with many students, signed bookmarks and books, and circulated the building with her warm presence. We highly recommend booking a visit with her!" - Kerra M., elementary school librarian "Dee's visit to Heim Elementary was such a success! All of the K-4 students were engaged and enthusiastic about her presentation. Students continue to discuss her tips for writing the plot of a story!" - Kristie F., elementary school librarian "You were amazing! So kid friendly and engaging. I love how you spoke to the kids on their level and really listened and answered all of their questions." - Kathryn B, 1st grade teacher "Numerous teachers commented on how well you engaged with the kids, your illustration of the writing process, and how your years of teaching experience were evident. Your interactions were genuine and inspirational. It would be impossible to track the positive impact even a few hours with you may have on our students." - Brandon M, elementary school librarian |
"The teachers loved your visit. They were so impressed with how you managed the kids and involved them!" - PTO Parent
"We’d read many of her books in advance. The Fort Builders Inc. series encouraged their entrepreneurial pursuits. Pies From Nowhere taught them how to use something they’re really good at doing to make a difference. Love is in the Air challenged them to never give up on their dreams, and The Last Plastic Straw has created a movement in our school to be straw-free and to consider our use of plastics. Students are working with our principal and now the University at Buffalo to implement changes in the coming school year. This was more than an author visit. It was a call to action and I can’t be more proud of my students for accepting the challenge!" - Christina C., elementary school librarian |
Virtual Visits
I offer a limited number of free virtual visits via Zoom or Google Meet. We'll get together for a fifteen to twenty minute Q&A where I'll tell the kids a little bit about being an author and answer their questions. I also offer paid virtual visits which include a 45 minute presentation. Click here for more info or to schedule a visit.
Conference Presentations
I'm also available to present at conferences on various topics, including writing for young readers, the craft of writing, Scrivener, and the publishing path. Conference organizers, please contact me for more information.
