Virtual Visits
|
To prepare for a virtual visit . . .
Get Connected
We'll exchange Skype or Google names so we can connect for the visit.
If you'd like some BFF bookmarks for the class, let me know how many students I'll be chatting with and send me an address for shipping. |
Get ready
Have students create questions for me before the visit. This gives them time to think about what they'd like to ask and helps ensure we have a great discussion.
Consider purchasing or borrowing THE BFF BUCKET LIST. Having my book and reading even a page or two helps students get excited about the visit. You can also use the Teacher Guide for activity ideas! |
Do a test call
If possible, schedule a test call with me in the days before the visit so we can fix any issues that might arise.
|
Do a follow up
A great way to harness the energy from a visit is to do a follow up activity shortly after.
You might want to give the kids a few minutes to get their thoughts and ideas down after the visit. Some suggestions: a writing prompt, journal writing, a drawing activity, making a list of story ideas, designing a cover for a story they've written, a KWL about publishing (to be started before the visit of course!) For some fun ideas related to my book, you can also use use the Teacher Guide. |
